February 27, 2007, Tokyo - Through MICO, NHK licensed 100 hours of HD programs to Sky HD, the high-definition channel of the Korean digital satellite broadcasting company Sky Life. The line-up includes The Sights of China and Globe Walkers, which are being on air on NHK HD, the new program slot introduced by Sky HD.
In addition, NHK has offered about 100 hours of HD programs to the Russian digital satellite broadcaster NTV Plus. This independent TV company is planning to start broadcasting these programs on its HD channel as of next month. Through MICO, NHK is to license travel programs such as Journey to Natural World Heritage Sites and Never Seen It, Never Done It, and nature programs including Satoyama: Japan's Secret Watergarden and Wild Secrets. |
