During summer, the migrant honey buzzards raise their young in the forests of Japan. This predatory bird of the hawk family has been said to feed mainly on nests of wasps which they dig out from the ground. Unfortunately, very little footage existed of them actually in action. However, for the first time in central Japan, the scene of a honey buzzard digging out a nest has been captured on film. This episode delves into the mysteries of how they spot and dig out buried nests.
Note: This is part of a 13-episode series.
